From 28–30 September, students from classes 4d1 and 4d3 went on a trip during which they explored Saxon Switzerland, Bohemian Switzerland and Dresden.
The aim of the trip was to discover the flora, fauna and rock formations of the national parks located on the Czech-German border, as well as the culture and history of the region and Dresden, the capital of Saxony. The group was based in the Czech city of Teplice.
The main highlight of Saxon Switzerland is the Bastei rock formation, offering spectacular views over the Elbe River. The most physically demanding day was the second one, when the students explored Bohemian Switzerland, where scenes from The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe were filmed. The destination of their hike was the impressive Pravčická Gate, a natural sandstone arch. Nearby is the beautiful Falcon’s Nest lodge. The group then followed a fairly challenging trail to the Kamenice River Gorge, where they even had the opportunity to take a boat ride.
On the final day, the students explored the capital of Saxony. Most of the day was spent in the Old Town, where they admired, among other sights, the Dresden Castle, the Zwinger Palace complex, Taschenberg Palace, the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, the Kreuzkirche and the Church of Our Lady. They also visited a Volkswagen factory, where they had the opportunity to see the interiors of the latest models, as well as Pfunds Molkerei, often described as one of the most beautiful dairy shops in the world.
The students were looked after by Ms Aleksandra Bartlewska, with Natalia Nowak, Natalia Nowosad and Szymon Jurczyński serving as accompanying teachers. Our guide was Ms Małgorzata, and our exceptional driver was Mr Alojzy.
